7 good reasons why you may be thinking of selling your motorbike

14 April 2018

Parting with your motorbike can be really tough, and whatever your reasons for selling, saying goodbye to life on two wheels can seem like a daunting task.

Perhaps you’re thinking that you’ll never sell and wondering what would make a biker want to sell their beloved machine in the first place? Well, there’s actually many valid and genuine reasons for selling your motorbike and moving on.

Here are some of the most common reasons that make people finally give in and sell their motorcycle to somebody new:

1. Lack of use

Often, our lifestyles change with age and additional commitments, and our bikes just don’t get ridden as much as they used to.

This could be for any number of reasons, like not having enough time anymore due to starting a family or preferring to travel on four wheels. Whatever the reason, if you’re not using your bike then it’s time to let it go.

2. Extra cash

Your bike may be an investment that you can cash in at any time.

Whether you own a top of the range motorbike that will sell for a large amount of money, or just a run of the mill run around, there’s still money sitting in it.

If you need to clear debts, save for a special occasion or simply want to free up some cash, selling you bike is money in the bank.

3. Bad Weather

Let’s face it, sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between a mild winter and a wet summer here in the UK.

Long periods of wet weather and strong winds make for uncomfortable riding conditions and may put you off riding entirely.

4. New addition forces sale

We’ve all seen those words in the sale ads before, but this remains one of the biggest reasons people choose to sell up.

If you’re expecting a baby, you’ll need to start thinking about car seats, boot sizes and a whole bunch or other practical issues that will make your motorbike pretty much redundant.

Sorry.

5. Too much work needed

Whatever bike you own, it may have required several bits of work here and there to keep it safe and roadworthy.

The older or rarer your bike gets, the more difficult and time consuming it can be to source parts, and expensive it is to fix and maintain.

If you’re fed up with constant maintenance, it’s time to sell her on.

6. A new home

Moving home could leave you with less storage options for your bike, or even an environment that is entirely unsuitable for riding.

City centres, for example, don’t offer bikers much chance to open up and enjoy the ride and city living usually comes with limited options for outdoor storage.

7. Time for an upgrade

Of course, not every sale is saying goodbye to the biker life forever.

Often, people will sell a motorbike in order to upgrade. Whatever reasons you have for selling your beloved bike, here at We Buy Used Bikes we will purchase your bike for cash and collect it for free!
