The best UK motorcycle festivals for the summer

It’s (slowly) getting warmer, which means most motorcycling enthusiasts will be looking forward to getting out and meeting likeminded folk on either joint rides or at some of the country’s best festivals.

The UK benefits from some fantastic annual motorcycle festivals, and with summer now firmly in sight, we’ve picked out what we believe to be the best of the bunch.

Bloodstock (August, Derbyshire)

How odd, you might think, to start with a festival that isn’t exactly bike-oriented. And that’d be a fair assumption, because Bloodstock is actually a heavy metal festival (the UK’s largest), but it’s also hugely popular with bikers.

Held in Derbyshire at Walton On Trent, this festival features over one-hundred bands and is perfect for any rider who likes to combine their love of bikes with that of ear-splitting, head-banging music.

Festival of Motorcycling (August/September, Isle of Man)

Held between 19th August and 1st September, the Festival of Motorcycling is a celebration of biking held in a place that’s synonymous with two-wheeled competition.

The event includes Classic TT racing, Manx Grand Prix and the Manx Two Day Trial. An absolute must for anyone serious about motorcycling (great location, too!).

Graham Walker Memorial (August, Beaulieu)

If you fancy something a bit more laid back, the annual Graham Walker Memorial might be the perfect tonic. This run features veteran and vintage motorcycles that gather at the picturesque Beaulieu village in the New Forest.

As you might expect, the event is a tribute to the late, great Graham Walker, who was one of the founders of the Sunbeam Motorcycle Club way back in 1924.

Rock and Bike Festival (August, Derbyshire)

Elvaston Castle Showground is the stunning setting for the Rock and Bike Festival in July. Another combination of motorcycling and music, this big, old school event features over twenty bands, and some great competitions (including the best and worst tattoos on show).

MAG’s Farmyard Party (June, North Yorkshire)

One of the longed-standing UK motorcycle events, MAG’s Farmyard Party started twenty-six years ago and can now be found every year at Duncombe Park Estate, Helmsley, North Yorkshire.

Featuring a whole host of incredible, fine-tuned bikes, along with bands, cafes and bars, it remains one of the best days out for anyone with even a passing interest in motorcycling.

Which motorbike festival are you looking forward to the most? Tricky to pick one from that lot, eh?
